Haathi Mere Saathi (transl. Elephants Are My Companions) is a 1971 Indian Hindi-language drama film, directed by M. Thirumugam, with screenplay written by Salim–Javed and dialogues by Inder Raj Anand.The movie has a Disneyesque appeal with an Indian twist. Haathi Mere Saathi was the biggest hit of 1971 going by box office collections, and was also critically acclaimed. Directed by M.A. With Rajesh Khanna, Tanuja, David Abraham, Sujit Kumar. Orphaned Raju, in the company of four elephants, has to perform with them at street corners, in order to keep alive. The movie has a Disneyesque appeal with an Indian twist. Haathi Mere Saathi was the biggest hit of 1971 going by box office collections, and was also critically acclaimed. The film stars Rajesh Khanna and Tanuja. The film at that point in time was the biggest hit ever made by a South Indian producer in Hindi.

Kaadan (transl.Forester) is an upcoming Indian drama film directed by Prabhu Solomon.[1] It features Rana Daggubati, Vishnu Vishal, Pulkit Samrat, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Zoya Hussain in the lead roles.[2] The film was simultaneously shot in Tamil, in Telugu as Aranya (transl.Jungle), and in Hindi as Haathi Mere Saathi (transl.Elephants are my friends), each with slightly different cast members.[3] The film was announced on 13 December 2017 with the first look released on 1 January 2018.[4]
The film is scheduled to be released on 15 January 2021 to coincide with Pongal festival, delayed from its initial release of 2 April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India.

Production[edit]
The film began production when Prabhu Solomon wanted to bring the issue of elephant abuse to the light.[11] Unnikrishnan, an elephant who played a role in Kumki 2, also plays a pivotal role in the film. Hindi actress Zoya Hussain was signed to play a role.[7]Rana Daggubati shed 15 kilograms for this films by eating vegetarian food for six weeks.[12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19] The makers initially announced Kalki Koechlin to play a role in the film, however, she was replaced by Shriya Pilgaonkar.[20]Vishnu Vishal was signed to play a role in the Tamil and Telugu versions while Pulkit Samrat will reprise his role in the Hindi version.[21][22]
Release[edit]
Initially scheduled for release on 2 April 2020, the film release was then indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic,[23][24] before being rescheduled to be released on 15 January 2021 to coincide with Pongal festival.[25]
